Johnelle’s quilts
Johnelle from St George dropped off 3 quilts while in Toowoomba visiting children at boarding school and attending to business. Her quilts will be ready for her to pick up on Monday prior to returning home. In the years we have known Johnelle, she has always been smiling. At KoolKat Quilting, we like to go the extra mile especially for those quilters from rural and remote areas who have already travelled some miles to see us. Having been in many of your communities this year holding quilting workshops, we salute your spirit, especially when circumstances may be trying.

K9074 swirl backings about to become unavailable
If you liked the K9074 swirl wide quilt backings, the range is being dropped by Australian fabric wholesalers Kennard and Kennard and soon will disappear from quilt shops. Today I was informed by the company that K9074 was Kennard’s own design which they have printed and so won’t be available from any other source. We found the blue in particular was popular, but over the years we have also supplied, black, lime (pictured), yellow and pink to customers. A shame to see it go.
Jess’s wedding quilt
This is Jess’s wedding quilt made her mother, Sandie, from Toowoomba. Measuring 106 x 116 inches, this king size quilt just fits on the Statler Supreme long arm computerised quilting machine at KoolKat Quilting. It is being quilted with the budget I Love It Trailing Hearts pattern in a cream thread.
Extra!, Extra!, Read All About It………………
Two quilted copies of the Hero’s Herald rolled off the presses at KoolKat Quilting today. Two lucky little boys will be receiving these quilts from Glenda of Toowoomba. Quilted with the budget meander e2e machine quilting pattern in a grey thread.
“You did a totally awesome job….”
Today is a day for remembering how many wonderful quilters there are out in the quilting world. We received this today in the post, just when we needed it “You did a totally awesome job on my last quilt, was blown away with how quick you were so I have another one for edge-to-edge…”. We choose to remember the many supportive comments while dealing promptly with, and learning from, the occasional critical ones.
Today’s quilts come from Mitchell and Emerald, Qld. The oriental quilt comes from Pat at Mitchell and we are quilting this with a simple design at her request – Apple Blossom e2e machine quilting pattern designed by Hermione Agee. White Caribbean backing and wool poly wadding supplied by KoolKat Quilting. The other quilt is from Sue at Emerald, Qld and is being quilted with the Alfresco e2e machine quilting pattern, also designed by Hermione.

Why do cats love quilts? Especially brand new ones! Our two resident KoolKats prove this over and over! Let it be known however, that Nutmeg and Candy are not allowed in the quilt room! Otherwise we know what would happen, don’t we!

Two at once!
Vicki, from Oakey, brought along two quilts yesterday, and we quilted them at the same time, on our two Statler machines. The quilts are “twins” – exactly the same size and design, just made up in different colour ways. Well done Vicki!
