Amidst the excitement of our new solar system being installed, and the arrival of our first AirBnB guest, Geoff still managed to get a quilt done. This is Ruth’s quilt from Highfields which is being quilted with the daisy chain e2e machine quilting pattern in a grey thread.

Jeanette met Kathy at the KoolKat Quilting stand at Boonah Quilt Show last month, and visited today with this quilt.  It is being quilted with the budget meandering leaves e2e machine quilting pattern in a charcoal thread.

Two quilters sent quilts to KoolKat from Sherwood in Brisbane today.  Blue Mood comes from Judy and is being quilted with the petal power e2e machine quilting pattern in a sky blue thread.  The next two quilts are from Shirley – the mermaids quilt is being quilted with the alfresco e2e and the bugs quilt with the frisky feathers e2e.

Jenny from Pittsworth dropped this quilt off after lunch today.  It is being quilted with the budget deb’s swirls e2e machine quilting pattern in a hot pink thread.

The lime green quilt came from Jenny of Toowoomba and it is being quilted with the yin yang e2e machine quilting pattern in a lime green thread.  Molly from Roma sent the beige paisley quilt from Roma and it is being quilted with the paisley playtime e2e pattern in a dark cream thread.

Our home has been named by Her Indoors as The Parrot Hilton, for the wonderful array of parrots and lorikeets that visit our 2 acre refuge just minutes away from Toowoomba and Highfields.  We have a 5 bedroom house, and only use half of it.  We decided to create The West Wing, at Our Parrot Hilton, which can also be found on AirBnB.

The tariff is just $52 per night for 2 people, and $20 for each extra person (maximum 4 people).  A basic continental breakfast is included.
The West Wing is self-contained with 2 bedrooms, bathroom, and sitting room with a basic kitchenette.  This includes microwave, fridge, toaster, TV and DVD player. With the two bedrooms (one with a double, and one with 2 king singles) we can accommodate up to 4 people. There is a private entrance as well as a connecting door to the rest of our home.  You can be as private or as social as you wish.
For quilters there is the added bonus of Kathy’s quilt studio, if you have the urge to do a bit of sewing while visiting. We also offer free membership of our “Green Parrot Club”, a lovely enclosed patio / sitting area from which you can enjoy watching the afternoon bird feeding.
For those of you who haven’t yet visited our studio, we are located on a lovely, peaceful 2 acre block, halfway between central Toowoomba and Highfields, just minutes in either direction.  The James Byrne Centre is just up the road. You may be coming to Toowoomba for a quilting event, Carnival of Flowers (book soon for that one!) or maybe you have medical appointments in town.

Two quilters from St George arrived separately but around the same time at KoolKat today. They exchanged news, and one who was a school librarian, managed to slip in a reminder to the daughter of the other lady that she had an overdue library book.  Colleen made the pink and brown quilt and asked for the budget I Love It trailing hearts pattern.  Heather also chose this pattern for the yellow and red quilt.

Annette from Pittsworth sent this applique cot quilt which is being quilted with the plush e2e machine quilting pattern.

Deborah from Toowoomba brought two Stars Wars panels for quilting with the budget loop-d-loop e2e machine quilting pattern, while Merryl from Highfields brought this grey quilt which is being

quilted in the deb’s swirls e2e.
