Meandering leaves, quilting over applique

This king size quilt intended as a wedding gift is made by Tanya from Chinchilla and is being quilted with the budget meandering leaves pattern.  It is another example of e2e quilting over applique.

This will be one of the last quilts to be completed before we have a two months break, resuming in early June.

Some unpicking before we can start quilting

Lyn Robinson

Lyn from Chinchilla brought us this quilt which has been sitting in her cupboard for 12 months.  First we had to us pick the quilting which had been commenced as our machine quilting works with separated layers – quilt top, batting and backing

Lyn chose the budget I Love It trailing hearts pattern and asked to finish the quilt by binding both sides.  She will collect this quilt today or Monday prior to returning home.

Quilts from Victoria and from local quilters

The first quilt is from Leah of Toowoomba.  The Captain America quilt is for her son and is being quilted in Stars and Loops e2e.  The second quilt is from Glenys of Chinchilla and has been quilted with the budget Loop-d-loop e2e machine quilting pattern.  The Dresden plate quilt in the middle is from Jan of Toowoomba and is being quilted with the budget I love it trailing hearts pattern. The fourth quilt is from Gerry of Coburg, Victoria, who asked for the Nouveau Scallops e2e pattern.  Finally, the batik quilt is from Bev of Tarragindi and is being quilted with the Waitomo e2e machine quilting pattern

From Chinchilla to Cairns

The first quilt is designed and made by Ann from Toowoomba who is using up her fabric stash. She chose the budget leaf meander e2e pattern for this quilt.  The next three quilts came from Chinchilla the Aboriginal theme quilt is from Glenys who asked for a budget pattern, and the next two from Barbara where we have used the budget Deb’s Swirls and Ribbon Candy e2e patterns.  The last quilt from Meryl at Aloomba in Cairns was bought as a strip fabric pack and the Bali Spice pattern from the KoolKat stand at last year’s annual quilt show in Toowoomba. It has been quilted in the Henna Leaf e2e pattern: label, binding and backing supplied by KoolKat Quilting.

Something we have not seen for a long time

Candice felft show ribbon quilt Candice red oriental quilt

Here’s something we have not seen for a long time – felt show ribbons.  Candice from Rose Petal Collections, Chinchilla brought us these two quilts today.  The show ribbon quilt is being quilted in an open budget meander e2e machine quilting pattern.  During the ’90s Kathy and Geoff used to make show ribbons for a living, but ours were done using satin acetate ribbon, not felt.  The red oriental quilt is being quilted with the paisley playtime e2e machine quilting pattern in a dark red thread. Red K6280 scroll backing supplied by KoolKat Quilting.
