The sky is blue, the sea is blue.
This is another large scale quilt from Kat of KoolKat which will be on display during her open studio on the Quilts, Stitches and Textiles Trail to be held during Carnival of Flowers in Toowoomba next month.
The quilt features our daughter and friend aged around 5 playing on a beach at Fraser Island. Detailed quilting, applique, beads and shells complete this iconic scene.
Fire and daisy chain e2e machine quilting pattern
Two quilts from Andrea at The Gap in Brisbane. The first is being quilted with the fire e2e pattern and the second with daisy chain.
Woodford Folk Festival captured in quilt
This a wall hanging called “Free” made by Kat of KoolKat Quilting based on photo taken at Woodford Folk Festival by Geoff Adams. The quilt captures the spirit of “The Republic of Woodfordia” and features free motion quilting and skilful toning of fabrics.
The quilt will be part of Kat’s exhibition at her studio during Carnival of Flowers week as part of the Quilts, Stitches and Textiles Trail.

Deb’s swirls e2e pattern
This king size width quilt was made by Pam from Wynnum and is being quilted with the budget Deb’s Swirls e2e machine quilting pattern.
Ribbon candy and dragonflies patterns
The first quilt was made by Jennifer from Brookfield and is being quilted with the budget ribbon candy pattern. The purple quilt comes from Mary at Aubigny and is being quilted with the dragonflies pattern.
What a site quilt in our exhibition next month.

This is Kat’s artists statement for her “What a Site” quilt for the inaugural Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery Art Quilt Prize. The quilt won Viewer’s Choice. It is a wall hanging 160 x 165 cm and features a range of techniques such as discharge dyeing and free motion quilting, and is based on a Google earth image of the museum site.

Budget loop-d-loop and gossamer patterns
The bird quilt made by Helen from Millmerran is being quilted with the budget loop-d-loop pattern and the second quilt by Wendy from Toowoomba is being quilted with the gossamer pattern.

A Year in My Garden
A Year in My Garden is another of Kat’s award-winning quilts which will be exhibited as part of the Quilts, Stitches and Textiles Trail during Carnival of Flowers week next month. This wall-sized quit records the flora and fauna observed by Kat over a 12 months period outside her studio at Blue Mountain Heights. Extensive embroidery is a feature of this piece.
